Telos expands its VoIP phone system family with VX Duo

It is an inexpensive addition for use in a studio

A silver-black product with a height of one rack unit and a width of one third of a rack unitTelos Alliance has released a new VoIP broadcast phone system called Telos VX Duo.

It is part of a product family led by the flagship VX Enterprise system, “at a price that makes VoIP affordable for every budget.”

Product manager Robbie Green noted in the announcement that services based on traditional copper phone lines are becoming increasingly expensive. “We wanted to ensure that all broadcasters, even those with modest technology budgets, can take advantage of the savings that VoIP offers,” and that this will provide greater reliability in addition to better call quality and better sound quality.

VX Duo is a compact and quiet platform for studio use. It can be placed on a studio or control room surface. Up to three units can be placed side by side on a 1U rack shelf.

“Studios equipped with Livewire+ AES67 can send and receive audio directly over the AoIP network through one of VX Duo’s two Ethernet ports, while the other provides connectivity to VoIP services.”

Telos VSet phones, integrated console call controllers and VX-compatible call screening software integrate with VX Duo, as does the Axia Pathfinder Core Pro broadcast controller for creating HTML5-based control panels.

The VX Duo has two channels/hybrids and can be expanded to eight channels/hybrids in two-channel increments via expansion licenses. This allows it to serve a single studio (as two separate caller faders on the board) or be split between two studios, for example as an AM/FM combination or as a control room and production studio.

Delivery is expected in October.
