Tech Soccer hosts the Jaguars tonight

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will face South Alabama in the first home game of the 2024 season. The Bulldogs have just played two away games against Nicholls and UL-Lafayette.

Tech (0-0-2) finished its two-game road trip with back-to-back ties against Nicholls and ULL. In the game against ULL, goalie Sarah Melén had to stop eight shots and had to stop 20 shots from ULL. Melén’s eight saves earned her her first CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week award.

LA Tech has taken a total of 23 shots in the last two games, including eight on goal, but has not been able to score. Against Nicholls, LA Tech had 16 shots and against ULL, seven shots.

South Alabama (0-1-0) began the season with a home loss to the LSU Tigers. The Jaguars lost 3-0 on Thursday, August 15, after the Tigers scored three goals in the first half. South Alabama fired nine shots, six of which were on goal, while LSU fired 13 shots, seven of which were on goal.

The series between these two programs dates back to October 10, 2004, when Tech lost 12-0 to South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Tech’s only win against the Bulldogs came in 2011, when the Bulldogs beat the Jaguars 4-0 in Ruston. In 2015, Louisiana Tech traveled to Troy, Alabama to face South Alabama in the Trojan Classic, where Tech fell 1-0 to the Jaguars and has not faced each other since.
