TDE’s Punch allegedly tells of the infamous fight between J.Cole, Kendrick and Diddy

In a recent episode of R&B Money On his podcast, Punch, co-founder of Top Dawg Entertainment, told a compelling story from a previous VMA after-party, deliberately leaving out the names of those involved. However, his account seems to line up with the long-running feud between Diddy and J. Cole at a 2013 event sparked by Kendrick Lamar’s controversial “Control” verse.

In the podcast, Punch recalls being at a New York club when two men started arguing about a popular song. Many speculate that these men were J. Cole and Diddy. According to Punch, the VIP area was packed with high-profile personalities, comparing it to “the front row of the Grammys.”

The argument reportedly took a dangerous turn when one of the men threatened to slit the other’s throat with a bottle if he behaved disrespectfully again. In response, the threatened man lashed out, sparking a “huge brawl,” according to Punch.

Rumor has it that Diddy threatened with the bottle while J. Cole threw the first punch. As the fight escalated, Punch mentioned that a man who was friends with one of the celebrity spectators intervened and began beating up J. Cole. This person is rumored to be Emory Jones, a close friend of Jay-Z.

According to Punch’s recollection, Jones eventually realized he had mistakenly attacked Cole, who was under contract to Roc Nation at the time. Jones reportedly felt remorse when he found out who he was fighting, claiming he had not been wearing his glasses during the chaos.

Although the incident described by Punch bears striking similarities to the altercation between Diddy and J. Cole, neither party has ever fully confirmed the details, leaving much of the story to speculation. Punch emphasized that the event was packed with celebrities, estimating that 70% of attendees were well-known figures.

In 2019, popular YouTuber Traplore Ross released a documentary about the allegations behind the altercation between Diddy and J. Cole titled “Why Diddy Slapped J. Cole.” The documentary explores the allegations that led to the altercation and the comments of everyone involved.
