Many of us think of TCS as just a part of the Tata Group, but the company has a global presence in 46 countries and is the second largest Indian company by market capitalization. These are just some of TCS’s strengths and its track record of innovation is hard to beat. Since its inception in 1968, the company has seen leaps and bounds in technological advancements.
For example, the company’s platform business, including SaaS, was valued at around $3 billion in 2021, in the midst of the cloud era.

At an IIA event earlier this year, Rinu Michael reported that TCS has over 600,000 employees and 150,000 of them are equipped with AI tools. Michael spoke about how AI can help us change the way we use our five human senses and explained some of the top projects currently underway at TCS.

“We help our customers embark on their AI journey,” she said. “We help them get to the land of innovation. … we bring customers and turn their problems into value … we help customers embed platform-based business models or move into new areas they haven’t entered before. We help customers, particularly in the area of generative AI … we help them build copilots with their own data in a private and secure way.”
She also mentioned digital twinning, a new type of model-based systems development that is becoming increasingly valuable to companies.
