Taylor Swift brings 400,000 people to voter registration page in less than 24 hours

Taylor Swift’s call for voter registration on Instagram attracted more than 400,000 visitors to the vote.gov website in less than 24 hours.

The 34-year-old pop superstar posted a custom URL to his Instagram stories shortly after endorsing Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election in November.

In a statement to diversity The General Services Administration, which operates the vote.gov site, said it received 405,999 visitors who were directed to the link posted by the singer.

The previous week, the site had an average of around 30,000 visitors per day.

It is not known how many of those visitors subsequently registered to vote, but the General Services Administration estimates that there were over 27,000 new registrations through the website on September 11, and over 80,000 people confirmed their registration status.

Users cannot register at vote.gov. Instead, residents are directed to their state’s election websites, where they must register directly with their state.

In her endorsement speech for Harris, Swift said the vice president was a “thoughtful and gifted leader.”

In a lengthy message posted shortly after the presidential debate between Harris and Trump, Swift said, “If you haven’t already, now is a great time to educate yourself on the issues of the day and these candidates’ positions on the issues that matter most to you.

She shared a photo of herself with her cat Benjamin Button from last year. Time When she was named Person of the Year by the magazine during a photo shoot, she wrote: “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight.

“As a voter, I make sure to see and read everything I can about their policy proposals and plans for this country.”

The singer mentioned images created using artificial intelligence that Trump allegedly shared on his Truth Social platform, which had previously suggested that she would support him as a presidential candidate, and spoke about the “dangers of spreading misinformation.”

She wrote: “It was recently brought to my attention that a message was posted on his website in which ‘I’ falsely endorsed Donald Trump’s candidacy for president.

“It really reignited my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

She added: “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election.”

Swift also used her acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards to encourage viewers to register to vote.
