Taylor Swift and Disney+ announce TV premiere of Eras tour film for Vienna fans after concert was cancelled due to terrorist attack plans

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of violence, terrorist attacks, and death.

Pop icon Taylor Swift made sure her fans were never disappointed with this kind gesture! Swift and Disney surprised fans in Austria with a special opportunity to see the concert film of the Eras Tour after she canceled the concert dates due to a foiled terrorist attack.

Disney has partnered with cable broadcaster ORF to broadcast the Disney+ film Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) as a free TV premiere in Austria on August 10, 2024. In addition, the streamer is offering a limited-time, free seven-day trial of Disney+ Premium to fans who want to stream the film there from August 10.

Swift was scheduled to perform in Vienna on August 8 as part of the European tour. However, the concert was canceled after government officials expressed fears of a possible terrorist attack.

As PEOPLE reported, Vienna authorities confirmed the arrest of two men in connection with a planned attack on Swift’s scheduled concerts at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on August 8, 9 and 10. A third male suspect was arrested the following day, according to the Associated Press.

Shortly after the arrests, the concert promoter stated in an Instagram post that he “had no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” The post was subsequently shared on the official Taylor Nation account’s Instagram stories.

A day after the news that the concert was canceled, the pop icon’s social media account was flooded with words of support for the singer, praising her commitment to keeping Swifties (a term used to describe her fans) safe.

Swift is reportedly “devastated” by the cancellation and is aware of the disappointment her fans will feel. A source told The Mirror that Swift hopes to return to Vienna as soon as possible.

In a similar incident in 2017, pop star Ariana Grande’s concert was interrupted by a tragic bomb attack after suicide bomber Salman Abedi planted an explosive device at the Manchester Arena at the end of the concert, injuring hundreds and killing several more.

Meanwhile, the Eras Tour makes its next stop in London, where Swift will perform five shows at Wembley Stadium from August 15-20, 2024.
