The first trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Landman features a top-class ensemble arguing about the oil business in West Texas.
“The world has already convinced itself that you are evil and I am evil because I provide them with the one thing they interact with every day!” marvels recurring guest star Jon Hamm in the footage (below).
The official description of the show: “Landman is a modern story about the search for wealth in the world of oil rigs. Based on the remarkable 11-part podcast Boomtown by Imperative Entertainment and Texas monthlythe series is a story of top and bottom, of roughnecks and wild billionaires fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” The series was co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace.
“It’s based on oil speculators and what we call landmen, the guys who run around trying to acquire mineral and land rights in hopes of speculating and finding oil,” Hamm previously said of the project. “Here in Texas, there’s a lot of oil under the ground and they’re constantly trying to find it. It’s a very well-told story and I think it’s an interesting take on what happens when it comes to how we get the stuff that keeps our cars and our lives and our airplanes and everything running in our modern world.”
Landman Stars include Oscar winners Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore as well as Ali Larter (The last victim), Michelle Randolph (1923), Jacob Lofland (Jokers 2), Kayla Wallace (When the heart calls), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville) and Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia).Andy Garcia (Consumables Franchise) and Michael Peña (End of the watch) also serve as guest stars.
Hamm plays Monty Miller, a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton). Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful Texas oil magnate and a friend of Norris.
Landman The first of its ten episodes will premiere on November 17 on Paramount+.
