Taylor Frankie Paul reveals why she exposed the MomTok soft swinging scandal

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Taylor Frankie Paul opens up about how Reddit rumors led to the soft swing scandal that rocked MomTok.

Paul shocked the #MomTok community in June 2022 when she announced that she and her husband Tate Paul were getting a divorce.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows the aftermath of Paul’s marriage ending and brings it to the revelation that a group of MomTok’s friends were “soft swingers” and had “an arrangement” with each other.

“I participated in a TikTok live,” she says in the series, as the scene plays moments from the live stream. “At least that’s what I wanted to explain to people. My husband wanted to share it. He really wanted to put that out there. So it’s like I developed feelings for a man that my husband welcomed into our home.”

Appearance in an episode of The Viall filesTaylor stressed the importance of setting the record straight when rumors began circulating online that she had cheated on her then-husband with her best friend’s husband.

Taylor explains that soft swinging had been practiced between different people for over a year at this point. “We had been doing it for a while with this couple, cabin parties, making out in the same bed, having intercourse in the same bed next to each other, the girls kissing and the husbands touching each other’s wives.”

She explained that as things escalated and progressed, “you could see people’s emotions coming up. People got jealous and weird.”

Taylor and her ex disagreed about toning down her sexuality, and that’s when things started to fall apart. She describes the groups as “inexperienced swingers,” comparing them to college students learning to navigate their sex lives for the first time.

Things changed when they decided to divorce and rumors first surfaced on Reddit.

“I don’t know who did it, but it ended up on the internet. All my TikToks said, ‘cheater, husband thief.’ And the girls, my friends, liked it and validated it. So I thought, okay, if you’re going to do this, I’ll just tell my story,” she says.

“So I went online without even thinking, but like, ‘Hey, yeah, I did this, but we all just met last night.’ It just didn’t feel fair… There was a lot more to the story than just me being some kind of adulteress.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
