Season 2 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has found its Thalia Grace.
Tamara Smart has been cast as Thalia in the Disney+ series. Smart will appear in the recurring guest role alongside series regulars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn and Daniel Diemer. diversity recently reported exclusively that Timothy Simons will appear as Tantalus in season 2.
Season 2 of the series is based on the book “Season 4 of the Cyclops,” the second book in the Percy Jackson series by author Rick Riordan. Production on season 2, which is scheduled to premiere in 2025, is currently underway.
“Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so casting her right was crucial,” said Riordan. “Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a distinct punk/rage-against-the-machine sensibility. When we saw Tamara Smart in the role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electrifying. Tamara brings the grace that Thalia Grace needs!”
Thalia is further described as “the demigod daughter of Zeus who made her last stand to protect her friends on the outskirts of Camp Half-Blood. Rather than let her die, Zeus turned her into a tree that anchors the force field that protects the camp. Tough and prickly, with a rebellious/punk sensibility, Thalia is fiercely loyal to her friends and distrustful of her father’s world.”
Smart recently starred in the Netflix series “Resident Evil,” playing the daughter of the character played by the late Lance Reddick. Reddick played Zeus in Season 1 of “Percy Jackson.” She has also appeared in series such as “The Worst Witch” and films such as “Artemis Fowl” and “A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting.”
She is represented by Gersh, ColorCreative, 42 in the UK and Shelby Weiser.
