On August 21, a video of the 41-year-old actress attending a live concert by Andy Lau quickly became a trending topic on Weibo. Fans noticed that Michelle was no longer wearing her wedding ring, which she had always worn during previous public appearances.

The duo first met while filming The Romance of the Condor Heroes. Chen Xiao later revealed that he secretly had a crush on her during the series and courted her afterward.

He proposed to her in 2015 by commissioning a statue resembling her figure, which he presented on a yacht decorated with roses. The couple married in Beijing in 2016 and have an eight-year-old son named Chen Muchen, affectionately known as “Little Star.”

Since they made their relationship public, they have faced criticism from their fans who believe that Michelle is not the right match for Chen Xiao and call her his “wrong choice”.
