Tailgating and bag policies in place before Saturday’s Mizzou football game

The University of Missouri Tigers are preparing for their fourth sold-out game of the season against the Vanderbilt Commodores, and the parking lots in and around Memorial Stadium will once again be full as thousands of Mizzou fans flock to Columbia.

To ensure safety and create a positive game experience, the Mizzou football team asks fans to be responsible and follow tailgating rules.

Tents or canopies must not be larger than 10′ x 10′ and must not block walkways or traffic lanes. All tailgating extras such as grills or generators must remain within the designated tailgating space and must not overhang the walkways.

Free blue recycling bags will be provided by parking attendants in each parking lot and fans are encouraged to use these for their recycling. All hot coals used for barbecuing must be completely extinguished and placed in the designated hot coal bins at the entrances to each parking lot to prevent fires.

All generators are prohibited in the campus parking garages.

Private drones are not permitted on Mizzou property, and all animals must be kept on a leash and their droppings cleaned up.

According to Missouri state liquor laws, no person under the age of 21 is permitted to purchase, possess or consume alcoholic beverages at any time. Large quantities of alcohol, such as kegs, are also prohibited.

When entering the stadium, fans are asked not to bring any bags into the stadium. However, small handbags and large plastic bags are allowed.

Any bags larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ must be clear and cannot exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. This can be a standard clear tote bag or a 1-gallon plastic freezer bag.

Popular bags such as backpacks, fanny packs and bum bags are not allowed.

Each fan is permitted to bring one bag and may carry additional items in the bag or around the neck. Blankets are permitted in cold weather. If fans require a non-approved bag for medical reasons, they are asked to call ahead to confirm their eligibility. Fans with medical exemptions will also be subject to special screening at Gates 2W and 2E.

The university asks fans to remain respectful and entertaining and to report dangerous or disruptive behavior to a university official.
