Sza expresses concern about “Galaxy Gas” | News

SZA On social media, she expressed concern about the re-use of nitrous oxide (commonly known as “whippits”) and its potential mind-altering effects, particularly among black youth.

“Sorry to be old and annoying, but… isn’t anyone going to talk about how galaxy gas came out of nowhere and is being massively marketed to black kids?” the singer said. questioned to X. is the government doing NOTHING? .. since when do we sell whips in stores???? Someone should protect the children.

The TDE singer also shared a screenshot detailing the potential side effects of laughing gas, including neurological and psychological damage. In a follow-up tweet, she highlighted the disturbing use of playful designs and bright colors in Galaxy Gas’s marketing, asking, “There’s something about the childish designs and marketing that’s so creepy like… stars and bright colors? Are you trying to lure the kids in on purpose?”

SZA’s comments quickly made the rounds on social media before being picked up by The Shade Room, where she faced some pushback from critics who argued that the product has been around for years.

“Yes, I know whippets have been around since we were kids. However, GALAXY GAS was created in 2021 in the Atlanta metro area and is currently marketed to CHILDREN,” the singer countered. “It has childish branding and marketing and is sold at Walmart and gas stations like cigarettes… this is not normal. Stop being so stupid and HELP THESE KIDS. Damn it.”

Galaxy Gas, in particular, is easily available through online platforms like Amazon and offers a variety of tempting flavors like strawberry cream, mango smoothie, vanilla cupcake and blue raspberry.

SZA is not the only artist to speak out. Rapper Lil Gnar recently received praise for his viral tutorial “Galaxy Gas,” in which the Chef Keef 43B’s partner and signatory simply unscrewed the nozzle of the can and threw it directly into the trash – making it clear that he wanted to throw the product away.
