A student at Hall High School in West Hartford died unexpectedly on Friday, August 9, and the school district announced that a crisis intervention team will be available at the school from Sunday, August 11, through Wednesday, August 14.

Lukas Schreiber, a model student who also swam and played lacrosse, began his senior year at the Hall.

“The loss of a child is unimaginable and our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the Schreiber family, their friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” said Superintendent Paul Vicinus. He said he was devastated for family and friends who are dealing with this unfathomable loss.

The administration sent a letter to the Hall community on Saturday expressing condolences and sympathy and providing details of the support services offered.

“As parents, we cannot even begin to comprehend the immense pain the family is going through and we know that you and our entire community share this grief and loss. Since receiving the news, we have established a crisis team,” the letter to the Hall community said.

Bridge Family Center physicians are available in Hall on the following days and times:

  • Sunday, August 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Monday, August 12th to Wednesday, August 14th, from 10am to 2pm

The doctors will “provide support, comfort and encouragement to our students and staff as we as a community deal with this tremendous loss and grief,” the statement said. Doctors will also be available at Hall at the start of the school year for those seeking help or support in coping with this loss.

“In the coming days and weeks, students may have questions and concerns related to death or may be struggling to cope with a loss,” the letter from school administrators said.
