Superman Actor David Corenswet injured himself while filming the Apple TV+ mystery series Lady in the Lake. The seven-episode thriller is based on the bestselling novel by Laura Lippman and was adapted for television by Alma Har’el. Natalie Portman plays a dissatisfied housewife in 1960s Baltimore who investigates two different murders. Corenswet frequently appears as Allan Durst, who has a shared past with Portman’s character. Durst appears in a pivotal dream sequence during Lady in the Lake Episode 6, directed by Har’el.

In comments to TVLineHar’el talked about Corenswet’s injury during the filming of the dream dance sequence. Har’el, who also directed, Honey Boysheds light on the way the injury happened and describes in detail how the show got around this by using a body doubleand refers to Corenswet’s upcoming role as Man of Steel in James Gunn’s SupermanRead the following quote:

We rehearsed it so many times and were incredibly worried that he would fall down the stairs and hurt himself. He went to get coffee and fell down the other flight of stairs (and hurt his shoulder).

He was a hero… They (Corenswet and his dance double) look alike, and we’re going to use him. We take David’s costume and put it on him. And as we say that, we see the paramedics cutting the shirt off David’s body. It was an unforgettable day.

Half of the footage is David dancing from multiple pre-shot angles, and the other half is the dancer after we lost David that day. (He’s) doing very well now. He’s doing really well. He’s going to go to heaven.

The actor has had a villainous run

Lady in the Lake‘s cast is notable for the continuation of Corenswet’sSuperman Stripes, where some of his most visible recent roles have seen him Play characters who are either villains or completely on the side of the spectrum. The actor’s role in the Apple TV+ mystery pits him against Portman’s protagonist. Flashbacks reveal that Allan Durst was anything but the ideal boyfriend during their time together in the past.

Corenswet also has a decidedly villainous role in Lee Isaac Chung’s film Twisters. Although it is a relatively small supporting role compared to the screen time of the main actors Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, Corenswet’s presence is almost comical in its villainy. His character, named Scott, becomes increasingly antagonistic with each on-screen appearance as he works against the protagonists. In his final scene, Scott is covered in excrement and smoking.

Although his character in pearl is definitely a victim, He is also portrayed as potentially nefarious in a way that is quite different from Clark Kent. It is probably an unintentional track, as it will familiarize Corenswet with high-profile and relatively small roles before stepping into the spotlight with SupermanAs a bonus, there is also Lady in the Lake gave the rising star the chance to work with celebrated writers and directors – even if he got injured along the way.
