LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Calm weather conditions dominate the forecast for the coming days as temperatures across the state will climb back above average throughout the week and into the weekend. If you’re looking for significantly humid temperatures, you won’t find them in this forecast.
By Tuesday evening, clouds should clear as a high pressure system moves across the area. Skies will remain clear overnight, allowing temperatures to drop to 40 to 10 degrees Celsius across the state. On Wednesday, skies should remain sunny to mostly sunny during the day as a high pressure system moves across the area.
Look forward to seasonally low temperatures, starting on Wednesday with temperatures between 7 and 9 degrees in the west and between 7 and 9 degrees in the east.
By Wednesday afternoon, temperatures will be a few degrees warmer but overall comfortable. Most areas of the 10/11 viewing area will see afternoon highs in the 27-30s. Areas to the far west may see temperatures rise into the high 30s to low 35s by the afternoon.
No major temperature swings or storm surges are expected in the extended forecast – at least not here. Now, tropical storm – and future hurricane – Helene will cause problems along the Florida coast and across the southeast. Here at home, sunny to mostly sunny skies are forecast for most of next week, with highs generally just above 80 degrees each day. We’ll factor in a 20% chance of a scattered shower or two in the weekend forecast as moisture from Helene moves north – though those rain chances are generous at best. It wouldn’t be surprising to see September end without any further precipitation in many places across the state.
