Apple TV+ wants another portion Sugar.

The tech giant’s streaming service has released a second season of the drama, in which Colin Farrell plays the title character Detective John Sugar. The first season revolved around John’s search for a missing woman – and revealed a major twist towards the end of the season that set the stage for the second season.

“It’s been incredibly exciting to see how audiences around the world have embraced ‘Sugar,’ and we’re thrilled to be returning for a second season,” executive producers Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg said in a statement. “We are so grateful to our partners at Apple for their support, our showrunner Sam Catlin, the brilliant Colin Farrell and of course our viewers. We can’t wait to get John Sugar back on the case.”

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, added: “Since its premiere, audiences have been captivated by the mysteries and twists of Sugarwith an incredible performance from Colin Farrell taking center stage. Colin, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and the entire team behind this series have brilliantly blended genres to create a captivating, not-to-be-missed series that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats and we can’t wait to see where Detective John Sugar finds himself in the second season. ”

The first season of the series premiered in April and concluded on May 17 with eight episodes. The second season, according to Apple, will bring Sugar back to Los Angeles for another missing person case as he continues to search for answers about his missing sister.

Farrell, who is also an executive producer of SugarTwo high-profile series are currently running. He also plays along The penguin on HBO, whose first two episodes attracted large audiences.

The first season of Sugar also stars Kirby, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez. It’s not clear if any of them will return for season two.

Catlin (breaking Bad, preacher) will be the showrunner of the second season and executive producer through his Short Drive Entertainment. Chon and Kinberg, who have an overall deal with Apple TV+, are executive producers for Genre Films along with Farrell, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich. Mark Protosevich created the series.
