Original story: According to the National Weather Service, damaging winds and a series of severe thunderstorms will sweep across Colorado on Tuesday.
Winds of up to 60 mph are expected in north-central Colorado and the metropolitan area during Tuesday’s storms. Gusts of 80 mph are possible over the Plains, with stronger thunderstorms, NWS meteorologists said in a hazardous weather forecast.
“Leave the water until early afternoon as thunderstorms with dangerous gusts of wind will develop,” Meteorologists said as a warning to boaters who plan to take advantage of the warm weather on Tuesday.
Temperatures of up to 30 degrees are expected in the Denver area before rain showers and thunderstorms move in shortly before 4 p.m., meteorologists said. The strongest storms are expected to hit the metropolis between 5 and 7 p.m.
According to NWS meteorologists, the storm will move eastward by the evening and reach the eastern plains between 5 and 9 p.m.
While the chance of a tornado is low, the eastern Plains could see light hail Tuesday afternoon, according to NWS meteorologists.
