Strange excuses after FSU’s loss to Georgia Tech in the opening game

They say you should keep your friends close, but your enemies closer, and that saying rang true for Florida football fans on Saturday as they watched their neighbors to the west fly all the way to Ireland only to lose. Georgia Tech Institute.

We reported yesterday how we were told how great FSU before the game, but even after the game, some prominent FSU fans can’t help but blame someone else for their loss.

Browsing the message boards after a loss can be quite an experience, and FSU fans were in no mood to accept that their team was completely defeated on the field.

Bar stool sports is what they are, and they often have the habit of being unabashed fans who say provocative things just to say provocative things.

But even the most unabashed fan has to know when to accept defeat. This memo did not manage to Bar stool FSU.

Right, because Georgia Tech didn’t have to fly to Ireland either? Haynes Kingagainst whom FSU’s vaunted defensive line had no answer is the same Haynes King that Florida shut down in 2022 when the Gators defeated Texas A&M 41-24.

But it wasn’t just Barstool. The former FSU QB became an expert Danny Kanell has made many excuses throughout the season as to why FSU was unable to make the playoffs, and he complained to X about a supposedly missed call near the end of the game.

To his credit, FSU coach Mike Norvell did not fall for these flimsy excuses in his postgame press conference:

“I take full responsibility for everything this team does and I need to make sure I help you better prepare them.”
