Stock market today: NMDC, Piramal Enterprises, GNFC among 17 stocks on F&O ban list on August 19

F&O Prohibited List:The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday, August 19, banned trading in 17 stocks in the futures and options (F&O) segment as they exceeded 95% of the market wide position limit (MWPL).

However, these stocks will be available for trading in the cash market. The NSE updates the list of securities prohibited from trading in F&O trading on a daily basis.

Aarti Industries, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Bandhan Bank, Biocon, Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals, GNFC, Granules India, India Cements, IndiaMart, LIC Housing Finance, Manappuram Finance, NMDC, Piramal Enterprises, PNB, RBL Bank, SAIL and Sun TV are the 17 stocks on the NSE’s F&O prohibited list on August 19.

The NSE said that the derivatives contracts for these securities had exceeded 95 percent of the market-wide position limit and had therefore been placed under a blackout period by the exchange.

“All customers/members shall be permitted to trade in the derivative contracts of the said security only to reduce their positions through offsetting positions. Any increase in open positions shall attract appropriate penal and disciplinary action,” the NSE statement said.

If exchanges place F&O contracts for a particular stock during the lock-up period, no new positions are allowed.
