Stephen Nedoroscik cut off the sleeves of his “Dancing With the Stars” costume to send it to his grandmother: “A big fan”

Olympic Stephen Nedoroscik is not only light-footed in Dancing with the stars Ballroom, but also has the biggest heart.

Nedoroscik, 25, danced a jive with a professional partner Rylee Arnold during the premiere on Tuesday, September 17, he wore a short-sleeved striped shirt with black pants. (He also removed his signature glasses at the beginning of the number, as he does at gymnastics competitions.)

“Steve’s original jive shirt was a little long, so we had to cut the sleeves off because I wanted it to be short-sleeved,” Arnold, 19, said in an Instagram video on Sunday, Sept. 22. “So Steve asked the costume designers to let him keep the cut-offs, for who?”

Nedoroscik subsequently confirmed that the strips of fabric were “for (his) grandmother.”

“She’s a huge fan of the show,” he enthused. “It was kind of her dream that I would be on it.”

Then Arnold burst into tears and added: “That’s so sweet!”

In Tuesday’s episode, Nedoroscik and Arnold received a score of 21 out of 30 for their dance to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

Before the first week of competition, the Olympic bronze medalist told exclusively We weekly that he was excited to learn to dance from Arnold.

“I was so excited. She is a great dancer,” said Nedoroscik Us earlier this month. “I didn’t know who I was going to get and I looked at all the pros and I was like, ‘I really hope I get Rylee.’ So I was so excited that I got Rylee.”

However, it quickly becomes apparent that dancing is very different from his gymnastics training. (Nedoroscik is a specialist in the pommel horse.)

“I’m more of an upper body type in gymnastics, so now I’m starting to use my legs,” he said Us. “It’s different, but I think the approach is very similar. I learn a skill, do a routine, and then I’ll compete with it. So I’m transferring the skills I learned in gymnastics to the dance floor. I’m excited to see where it goes.”

Nedoroscik and Arnold will attempt a Paso Doble to the music of “Superman – Main Theme” by The City of Prague during Oscar night on Tuesday, September 24.
