StarMetro introduces changes to operating hours and bus routes

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – StarMetro has introduced several updates to some of its operating hours and bus routes throughout the capital city.

The changes to the bus system came into effect on Saturday. Buses will operate at shorter hours and certain trips will be cancelled on weekends.

Most of StarMetro’s bus routes will end an hour earlier than before. Specifically, most buses operated until 7:30 p.m. every evening. According to StarMetro, most routes will now end at 6:30 p.m.

The Azalea line will continue to operate until 6:45 p.m. every weekday, 15 minutes later than most other lines.

Route S no longer includes a stop at Governor Square Mall on weekends.

Mayor Curtis Richardson is confident the route changes will put the bus system on a successful path once the Southside Transit Center opens next year. He said more than half of ridership comes from the Southside.

“We will establish routes that will allow them to access community amenities. This will be another step toward revitalizing and redeveloping the south side of Tallahassee, which has been neglected for far too long,” Richardson said.
