Starkville First United Methodist Church hosts “Attic Sale”

Starkville United Methodist Church held an attic sale. At the attic sale, people were able to purchase furniture, book bags, kitchen appliances, and other household items at low prices.

STARKVILLE, Mississippi (WCBI) – Due to the rising cost of everyday necessities, several families are in need of extra help to cover basic needs.

A local church is trying to ease the financial burden faced by many people.

Starkville United Methodist Church held a loft sale.

At the attic flea market, people could buy furniture, satchels, kitchen appliances and other household items cheaply.

“I think it’s a double-edged sword because it helps the person who is donating the items because they need to get rid of them,” said Jacque Tisdale, co-chair of the loft sale. “And the people who need them can buy them at a discounted price. People are furnishing apartments and trying to furnish things they already have and they can’t afford it, so we’re just so happy that we can offer quality items at a discounted price,”

“People can buy so much here that they can buy kitchen utensils for a dollar,” said Lynn Berch, assistant financial manager at First United Methodist Church. “And a whole set of furniture for $200, and who wouldn’t want to do that?”

“You go somewhere and pay $300 for something,” says Lynn Berch, assistant financial manager at First United Methodist Church. “When you can just come here and buy a lot for more money.”

The attic sale takes place every year in August.
