Members of the St. Helena Public Works Parks and Trees Department were recently honored as the city’s District Employees.
Their efforts were visible this summer in Lyman Park, where they set up about 24 tables and benches, installed new landscaping and pulled weeds.
According to the city’s newsletter, the team, which includes Victor Neri, Eric Kenny, Scott Borges, Jose Tamayo and Nicholas (Nico) Hadiaris, embodies “responsiveness,” based on how quickly and efficiently they can respond to the needs of the community and each other.
Employees work overtime beyond their regular shifts to help with special events, park restoration, and daily maintenance.
“They regularly prioritize requests and tasks to repair damaged park benches, trim dangerous branches in public parking lots, lift tree canopies in preparation for paving projects, and collaborate with other departments and areas on larger projects within and outside their department,” the newsletter said.
