The New Orleans Saints need to stop Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. How do you prepare for this challenge? With Spencer Rattler as the scout team’s version of Hurts, of course.
The truth is that Hurts is a player that is difficult to copy. You want to emulate Hurts’ legs while maintaining the passing element. This eliminates all non-quarterbacks. So who’s next? Derek Carr? Even if he wasn’t your starter, that wouldn’t work. Rattler is the more athletic of the two, along with Jake Haener.
Taysom Hill is really the best option. He and Hurts are similar in style and build. The problem is that Hill is dealing with an unspecified chest injury that limited him in practice this week. Under certain circumstances, he might have been asked to work harder to help prepare, but not when his health is in question.
This week, Rattler was the best the Saints had to offer. There aren’t many people who could have replicated that. On Sunday, we’ll see if the Saints are better prepared than the last time they saw Mr. Hurts.
