South Carolina IRS extends tax deadlines because of Debby

The South Carolina Department of Revenue is providing financial assistance to the state’s taxpayers following Hurricane Debby.

Several returns and payments originally due between August 4 and February 3, 2025 are now due on February 3, 2025.

According to the SCDOR statement, the tax relief applies to all 46 South Carolina counties and follows the IRS’s decision to provide relief due to the impact of the storm. The SCDOR will automatically provide relief to affected taxpayers.

The following declarations and payments are now due by February 3, 2025:

2023 income tax returns of individuals, businesses and tax-exempt organizations that had a valid extension to file their returns. Tax payments related to 2023 income tax returns due on April 15, 2024 are not affected by this relief.

Quarterly advance payments of income tax that were originally due on September 16, 2024, December 16, 2024 (for corporate taxpayers) and January 15, 2025 (for non-corporate taxpayers) are eligible for the relief.

Certain quarterly withholding tax returns and payments, including those originally due October 31, 2024 and January 31, 2025, are also eligible.

The February 3, 2025 relief does not apply to other state taxes administered by the SCDOR.
