Sources – Packers QB Jordan Love is expected to be back against the Vikings

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Three weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee in the season opener, Jordan Love will return to his position as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback.

League sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Love is expected to be active on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

Love sat out two games and the Packers (2-1), with Malik Willis as the backup starter, won both, beating the Indianapolis Colts in the Week 2 home opener and winning at the Tennessee Titans last week.

Love actually returned to practice the week of the Titans game and was close to returning last Sunday.

He said after practice on Wednesday that his mobility had improved compared to the previous week.

“Yeah, definitely,” Love said. “I feel like I’m getting better every day, I’m moving, I’m working out outside and I’m feeling better.”

His injury occurred in the final seconds of his first game since signing a four-year, $220 million contract extension.

Initially, some thought Love could miss three to six weeks, but when the Packers didn’t place Love on injured reserve, that meant they had every confidence he would miss fewer than four games.

Because Love played, the Packers did not sign Sean Clifford from the practice squad. He had been named the backup quarterback for the last two weeks.

However, with cornerback Jaire Alexander questionable with quad and groin injuries, the team has elevated cornerbacks Kamal Hadden and Robert Rochell from the practice squad to the active gameday roster.
