In a surprising twist in the political family drama, Jeff Walz, the brother of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, attracted attention after making offensive remarks about his wife’s vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris. However, supporters of former President Donald Trump see his alleged remarks as cannon fodder against Tim.

Trump, meanwhile, took to Truth Social to praise Jeff, saying, “Sounds like a really great guy.” In his post, he also shared a screenshot of the New York Post’s front-page article, which featured Jeff’s criticism of his brother.

In response to Trump’s post, one of his MAGA supporters wrote: “Even his brother hates him.”

“Spit it out, Brother Walz,” commented a second user.

“Tim is exposed!” a third user chimed in.

Trump’s response comes after the NY Post said Jeff had stated he was “100% against” his brother’s ideologies. Tim Walz is not the “type of person” who should be in the White House or making decisions about the future of the nation, Jeff warned. The NY Post also suggested that Jeff was considering publicly endorsing Trump.

Jeff says he hasn’t spoken to Tim in eight years, but he’s open about their differences. Republicans were thrilled to learn this in a Facebook post, but Democrats were quick to point out that Trump and Kennedy Jr. both lack significant family support.

Tim and Jeff have a sister named Sandy Dietrich who lives in Nebraska. They lost their brother Craig in 2016.

Jeff, 67, has no confidence in Tim because he did not inform family members about his candidacy for vice president.

He is a Trump supporter and a registered Republican who donated $20 to his 2016 presidential campaign. Following Trump’s indictment for paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels, Jeff stated on March 30, 2023, “We just became a third world banana republic.”

Jeff and his wife, Laurie, live in Freeport on the Florida Panhandle. According to public records, the couple owned So Fine Music, an instrument and supplies store in Inverness, from 2001 to 2010. According to the New York Post, Jeff was an assistant principal at a middle school in Citrus County in the early 2000s.

Laurie is friends with Tim and other family members on Facebook.

Will Jeff Walz support Trump?

While it’s unclear at this point whether Jeff plans to publicly oppose his brother’s candidacy, the screenshot of his response has gone viral on social media. “I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a long time,” he said, adding, “I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it.”

The Harris-Walz campaign faces a difficult time ahead as it prepares for what is expected to be a highly polarizing campaign season.
