Son Heung-min: South Korean striker wants to become a legend at Tottenham Hotspur

Captain Son Heung-min says he wants to be remembered as a Tottenham Hotspur legend, but does not believe he can be considered one yet.

The 32-year-old is now in his tenth year at the Premier League club and has already played over 500 games for the club.

He has scored at least 14 league goals in each of the last eight seasons and formed an excellent duo with Harry Kane before the England captain moved to Bayern Munich last summer.

When asked what legacy he would like to leave to the club one day, South Korean striker Son told BBC Sport: “Legendary.

“I think it’s a good achievement to be with a team for 10 years. You have to be consistent and give something back to the club.

“I still don’t think I’m a legend of this club. I’ve said I want to win something with Spurs and then I’d be very happy to be called a legend.”

“I came to Spurs to win a trophy and I hope we can have a special season.”

Tottenham have not won a major trophy since the 2008 League Cup, and while Son hopes to help the club win the title this season, he has no personal goals.

Last season he scored 17 goals in the Premier League and Spurs finished fifth.

“I don’t set a goal for where I should be,” he said.

“Imagine I say 10 goals or something and you score 10 goals in six games, then your goal is achieved. I want to put as much pressure as possible without ever feeling like it’s enough.

“I want to go as far as I can in every respect – as a team, as an individual, in everything. Then we’ll see where we stand.”
