Sofia Vergara has announced the film “Modern Family” with a big preview of the reunion film
A possible Modern Family reunion film was just teased by one of the series’ leading actresses, Sofia Vergara.
Modern Family may have ended in 2020, but some fans are hoping to see their favorites back on the small screen sooner rather than later. And it seems like some of the show’s fictional family members are ready to step back into their roles thanks to comments from Sofia Vergara.
“I would die to be on that set,” Vergara told Variety about a possible reunion with her TV family. “It would be so much fun. A TV movie, maybe?”
The actress also stressed that her co-star and fake husband Ed O’Neil must live long enough to witness the comedy family’s last reunion in front of the camera.
“I always joke with him (saying), ‘Ed, don’t die, because if we do the sequel, it’s going to take some time and you’re the oldest of us. You can’t be dead,'” Vergara said.
Modern Family ran for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020. The series followed a documentary format in which an invisible camera crew followed three parts of a family.
Vergara belonged to the Delgado-Pritchett branch of the family, as she married the family patriarch Jay Pritchett and integrated herself into her new husband’s family together with her young son Manny.
Modern Family was a critical darling during its run, winning 22 Primetime Emmy Awards for both individual cast members and the show itself.
Since the series ended in the midst of the global lockdown, many continued to hope that their favorite characters would reunite in a special broadcast or TV movie.
And thanks to Vergara’s commentary, that dream could become a reality much sooner than fans might think.
