So, which Marvel character does Joe Locke really play in “Agatha All Along”?

The latest TV series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe Agatha – All the timewhich premiered this week on Disney+, revolves around WandaVisionanother MCU show where magic and mystery went hand in hand. In WandaVisionThe central question was how Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision ended up as a married couple in an ever-changing sitcom reality, since Vision, you know, died on the screen in Infinity War (and not in a reversible way like Thanos.)

WandaVision ended with the main antagonist Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) trapped in her own sitcom universe, so a question Agatha – All the time must answer in the first episodes – which deal with Mare by Easttown the way WandaVision She has immersed herself in family sitcoms and cast Agatha in the role of a grey-haired detective – this is her way of getting out there and returning to reality.

But at the end of the first two episodes, which appeared last night on Disney+, another question arises: Who in the world is “Teen,” the character who Heart Stopper Star Joe Locke and what significance does he have for the larger story of the Marvel Universe?

Yes, you read that right – at least for now, Locke’s character name is “Teen.” That’s what Agatha decides to call him after discovering that he is unable to explain his true nature. Someone or something has cast a spell on Teen that prevents him from revealing anything about himself; the first time he tries, a thread appears over his face and sews his mouth shut. Later, in episode two, the sound cuts out as he tries to tell his backstory; Agatha turns up the radio to make sure her hearing isn’t deceiving her.

Of course, the fact that a magical power doesn’t want them – and therefore the audience – to know the true identity of Locke’s character has only fueled speculation about who he really is. The most likely explanation? He is an adult version of Wanda’s son Billy, who the audience last saw in WandaVision. Billy’s costume in the Halloween episode of this series may have been a nod to his eventual future: in Marvel’s comic book continuity, a reborn Billy becomes Wiccan, a teenage superhero with reality-warping powers similar to those of his mother. Created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung in the series Young AvengersWiccan was also one of Marvel’s first prominent gay characters (possibly reflected in Agathawhich shows how Teen avoids a call from his friend.)

Locke’s teenager looks very similar to Billy/Wicca, and given the intertwining WandaVision And Agatha – All the time If this is not intentional foreshadowing, then it is intentional misdirection. It is of course possible that Teen is Wicca, but not Billy. In the first episode, there is a brief hint with a character named Nicholas Scratch, who Agatha‘s son in the comics. Narratively, it makes a little more sense to pair Agatha with her own son rather than Wanda’s son; it would add personal stakes to Agatha’s journey while setting up Wiccan for a possible appearance in Young Avengers Film for which Marvel has already laid the groundwork with the introduction of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld).

But to find out for sure, we’ll have to join Hahn, Locke and the rest of the show’s star-studded cast on their nine-episode Magical Mystery Tour.
