Snoop Dogg announces 200-meter winner

Snoop Dogg is once again causing a stir at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

On Wednesday, August 7, the 52-year-old hip-hop star surprised the winners of the women’s 200-meter athletics final with a congratulatory phone call.

“Great job, girls! Great job!” Snoop, who served as a special ambassador for NBC during the big sporting event, can be heard shouting to the champions in a Facebook reel shared on the official account of the U.S. track and field team.

The video featured Gabby Thomas, who won the gold medal for the USA, Julien Alfred, who took home silver for St. Lucia, and Brittany Brown, also from the USA, who won bronze.

During the conversation, Brown excitedly told the “Gin & Juice” rapper that she was from his hometown of Pomona, California.

“Snoop Dogg, I know you have a team in Pomona, California. I’m from Pomona… I just want you to know that I’m from Pomona. So Pomona,” she said, to which Snoop replied, “You already know that – I’m sure you do. Y’all made me proud today.”

Snoop takes the Olympics by storm with his commentary and performances with Martha Stewart, who he has been friends with for nearly 26 years.

They celebrated the cookbook author’s 83rd birthday on Saturday, August 3, at an equestrian dressage event, where they wore matching riding helmets, jackets, white pants and matching sunglasses.

In a Today In an interview with the show, Stewart said the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” singer asked her to attend the specific event.

“Snoop called me and he knows I love horses,” she said, adding, “He’s a little scared of horses.”

Previously, Snoop had surprised the businesswoman for her birthday with a special cake from Snoop and Cookie Monster.

During his time at the Olympics, he took a hilarious tour of the Louvre for the official NBC Olympics & Paralympics TikTok account, danced with the Olympic torch through Paris as one of the last torchbearers before the Summer Olympics opening ceremony on July 26, and even took a selfie with Billie Jean King.

“Met the incomparable Snoop Dogg. We were both born and raised in Long Beach, California and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. LBC is forever in our hearts,” the 80-year-old tennis legend wrote on Instagram alongside a selfie and other photos of her with the rapper.
