“SNL” announces Jean Smart, Ariana Grande, Michael Keaton and more as hosts of season 50

“Saturday Night Live” has announced the first hosts for its 50th season, including Ariana Grande, John Mulaney, Michael Keaton and more.

Jean Smart will host for the first time, opening the season on September 28 with musical guest Jelly Roll, followed by an episode on October 5 featuring songs from Coldplay, hosted by Nate Bargatze.

Grande will host “SNL” for the second time on Oct. 12 with musical guest Stevie Nicks. Keaton will visit Studio 8H with Billie Eilish on Oct. 19, and Mulaney will host with “SNL” newcomer Chappell Roan on Nov. 2.

Smart just won her third Emmy for the Max comedy “Hacks,” while Grammy-nominated Jelly Roll, who performed at the Emmys, will be performing in advance of his new album “Beautifully Broken,” out October 11.

Comedian Bargatze, who continues his “Be Funny Tour” through the fall, will return to the “SNL” stage after hosting in 2023. Coldplay will accompany him as musical guest at the band’s eighth performance. The Chris Martin-led band will release their tenth album, “Moon Music,” on October 4.

Grande will host “Saturday Night Live” ahead of “Wicked,” which hits theaters Nov. 22, when Fleetwood Mac icon Nicks returns after her first “SNL” appearance in 1983.

Keaton was last seen in “Beetlejuice” alongside Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder, and his next film, “Goodrich,” hits theaters Oct. 18. He will be joined by Eilish, who makes her fourth musical guest appearance on “SNL,” this time in support of her 2024 album “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”

Mulaney, who was a writer for “Saturday Night Live” from 2008 to 2013, will host for the sixth time. The Emmy-winning stand-up comedian stars in the new Broadway play “All In: Comedy About Love,” which opens Dec. 11. Roan, who made waves this year with songs like “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Hot to Go!”, will bring her high-energy pop hits to Studio 8H for the first time.

“Saturday Night Live” celebrates its 50th season with a live primetime special on Feb. 16. The series airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET and streams on Peacock. NBC is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.

“SNL” is produced in association with Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels is the creator and executive producer.
