Apple TV+ has released a preview clip from episode 8 of “Sunny” ahead of the episode’s airing on Wednesday, August 21. The 10-episode dark-comic mystery series stars Rashida Jones, who also serves as executive producer, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, YOU, annie the clumsy, and Jun Kunimura. “Sunny” premiered with the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 10, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through September 4.

Episode 108 – “To Garbage or Not to Garbage”: In the past, Masa slowly emerges from the hikikomori.

In Sunny, Jones plays Suzie, an American woman from Kyoto, Japan, whose life is thrown into disarray when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As a “consolation,” she is given Sunny, a new-generation household robot manufactured by her husband’s electronics company. Although Suzie initially resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, they gradually develop an unexpected friendship and together uncover the dark truth about what really happened to Suzie’s family. In doing so, they dangerously enter a world Suzie never knew existed.

Sunny is produced by A24 for Apple TV+. The script was written by KATIE Robbins, who is in charge of her company Babka Pictures. Lucy Tcherniak is an executive producer for Poppycock Pictures. A24 and Jones also serve as executive producers. The series is based on the book The Dark Manual by award-winning, Japan-based Irish author Colin O’Sullivan.
