SMART expands the range of airport shuttle services and extends opening hours

PETALUMA, CA — The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District is expanding the service area of its SMART Connect Airport Shuttle, an on-demand service like Uber or Lyft that transports SMART train passengers to and from SMART’s Sonoma County Airport Station and the surrounding area.

Starting Monday, the 12-seat, all-electric SMART Connect shuttle will expand its on-demand service to the east side of U.S. Highway 101, including to and from the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, Sutter Pacific Hospital and Clinics, and the California Indian Museum & Cultural Center.

During the week, the shuttle provides on-demand transportation to and from the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport and the surrounding business district. On weekends, the shuttle provides transportation to and from the airport train station and 30 wineries and breweries.

The agency has also extended the shuttle service hours to better serve commuters. The shuttle departs at 7 a.m. on weekdays to pick up passengers on the northbound SMART train, which arrives at the Sonoma County Airport Station at 7:23 a.m. Weekend hours have been extended to 7:30 p.m. to pick up passengers disembarking the northbound SMART train at 7:17 p.m.

To book a ride on the SMART Connect Airport Shuttle, passengers can use the Ride Pingo™ app or call 800-727-0279. If space is available, passengers can also board on foot.

The shuttle is wheelchair accessible and has luggage storage and other amenities. SMART also operates a Connect shuttle at Larkspur Station.

The Airport shuttle operates weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Single fare is $1.50 for adults, 75 cents for disabled people, and free for youth under 18 and seniors.

“There are many business and corporate centers in the airport area and along the Highway 101 business corridors,” SMART officials said. “The shuttle offers flexibility and convenience to commuters and tourists who take the train to work or for leisure.”
