Thompson was the second-best player in Missouri and the 10th-best dual-threat quarterback of the class of 2016. Thompson played in 46 games during high school, throwing for 6,222 yards and 71 touchdowns. Thompson’s dual-threat abilities were evident in his senior year, when he rushed for 21 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards. He was named the 2015 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year after leading his team to the state title.
