Six Tennessee schools have made the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools list.

Tennessee schools are among 356 schools nationwide recognized by the U.S. Department of Education this year.

“This prestigious award recognizes schools that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement or make significant progress in closing achievement gaps among diverse student groups,” the department said in a press release. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools reflect the full diversity of the American education system and serve students of all backgrounds.”

The department creates the list based on one of two categories:

  • High-performing schools who are considered the best in their state based on state or national standardized tests
  • Schools close performance gaps between all students, including students with financial difficulties, immigrants, students of color, and others.

“This national recognition is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates how committed these educators and school and district leaders are to giving all students the opportunity to succeed every day,” Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Lizzette Reynolds said in a press release.

Here are the Tennessee schools that made the list.
