Sirens: Driver falls asleep and crashes into tree; Man arrested after teens hospitalized for meth and fentanyl use; Burglary reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Burglary

• Shortly before 9:45 a.m. on August 23, a citizen reported that someone had broken into his business in the 200 block of East Summa Street sometime during the night. Nothing was reported missing.

Driving under the influence of alcohol

• A 25-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for driving while intoxicated shortly before 1:50 a.m. on August 24 at the intersection of South Pearl and West Pear Streets.

Malicious mischief

• On August 24 at approximately 9:45 a.m., a citizen reported that wires had been ripped from a trash compactor in the 1300 block of Lum Road sometime during the night.

theft

• On August 24, a theft was reported from a clothing store in the 100 block of West High Street at 1 p.m. Officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it on southbound Interstate 5 at mile marker 81, but the vehicle fled. “Due to limited information regarding the crime, officers did not pursue the vehicle,” Centralia police said.

• On August 24, officers were called to a shoplifting incident at a convenience store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. One of the suspects, a 35-year-old Tacoma woman, reportedly gave officers the name of a relative when contacted. She was arrested on shoplifting and identity theft charges, as well as warrants for fraud out of Pierce County. A 37-year-old Tacoma woman was also arrested on shoplifting charges.

• On August 25, shortly after 10:10 a.m., sometime during the night, a white 2005 Chevy Silverado was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue.

Improper conduct

• A 41-year-old Spanaway man was arrested at 1:55 p.m. on August 24 in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Trespassing

• A 35-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:45 p.m. on August 24. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on a warrant issued by the Chehalis Municipal Court.

• A 54-year-old Lacey resident was arrested for trespassing in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue shortly after 1:45 p.m. on August 25.

attack

• A 68-year-old Centralia man was arrested on charges of fourth-degree assault and domestic violence in the 2700 block of Fords Prairie Avenue at approximately 7:40 p.m. on August 24.

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested at approximately 10:15 a.m. on August 25 in the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault, third-degree malicious damage to property and domestic violence.

Car accident

• A driver who fell asleep at the wheel shortly after 11:30 p.m. on August 24, left the road and struck a tree at the intersection of Ham Hill Road and Sky Meadows Drive was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hit and run

• A hit-and-run crash involving a driver who left the roadway in the 1200 block of North Gold Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 25, damaging private property and a parked vehicle, is under investigation.

Reckless endangerment

• A 44-year-old Centralia man was arrested for reckless endangerment after police and paramedics were called to a possible overdose in the 700 block of South Pearl Street just after 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 25. Two teens were hospitalized after admitting to taking LSD and meth that the suspect allegedly gave them, according to Centralia police.

Fire and rescue service calls

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, the Lewis County Emergency Services Center recorded approximately 59 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, 10 fire-related calls, five non-urgent service calls, eight motor vehicle accidents, two ambulance requests, three Medical Lifeline alerts, one overdose and 11 other calls.

PRISON STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total of 155 inmates, with 142 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 105 were male and 37 were female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were male and two were female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail held a total of 22 inmates, including 14 from the Centralia Police Department, three from the state Department of Corrections, three from the Lummi Nation, one from the City of McCleary and one from Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
