Shots fired near Donald Trump as he leaves his golf club in Florida

According to law enforcement sources, Donald Trump was escorted to safety by the Secret Service after agents opened fire on a man spotted with a suspected weapon on the former president’s golf course.

According to sources, the Secret Service spotted a suspicious person at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach and opened fire when agents saw what appeared to be the muzzle of a gun.

It is unclear whether the man was on or near the track.

An agent opened fire and shot several times.

“President Trump is safe following the shooting near him. No further details are available at this time,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said on Sunday afternoon.

The man was later arrested by local police on I-95.

It happened almost exactly two months after Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump, wounding him in the ear, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

Senator Lindsey Graham praised the former president for his steadfastness just minutes after the shooting became known.

“I just spoke with President Trump. He is one of the strongest people I have ever known. He is in good spirits and more determined than ever to save our country.”

The golf course in West Palm Beach is about five miles inland from Mar-a-Lago, which Trump called the “Winter White House.”

The Secret Service – which came under widespread criticism after the July assassination attempt – wrote on X that it was investigating a “security incident” involving the former president that occurred shortly before 2 p.m.

The agency said it is coordinating the investigation with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial reports indicated that two people shot at each other. However, sources say investigators now believe the Secret Service agent was the only shooter.

This is an evolving story.
