Shilo Sanders injury update: The latest on Colorado’s defensive back

Colorado starts slowly in the game on Saturday against Nebraskatwo touchdowns after one quarter of play. Now the Buffaloes could have to do without one of their best defensive players. Defensive Back Shilo Sanders is back in the locker room.

The exact cause of the injury is not yet known, but in the NBC broadcast, Sanders was seen running without a helmet. Sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen says he will likely return to the game.

“There’s not much new to report,” Tappen said. “Team personnel were holding onto his helmet as he walked into the locker room. Right now, I’m told he’ll likely return for this game.”

Colorado’s defense was on the field quite a bit, but Sanders’ injury occurred fairly early. Tappen gave her report in the opening period of the second quarter.

Sanders was one of the most prominent recruits to follow Deion Sandershis father, to Colorado. He was a star in Jackson State’s secondary and has been a fixture in Boulder since moving up to the FBS league.

Nebraska is happy with its passing attack, especially with quarterback Dylan Raiola leading the charge. However, not much has been going forward so far. Many passes have gone in or around the line of scrimmage as the Huskers look to gain ground.

At some point, Nebraska’s offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield will initiate a deep ball play. Colorado has confidence in its secondary, mainly cornerback Travis HunterBut when Sanders isn’t on the field, the Buffaloes feel like they’re missing one of their best players.

With his status currently listed as “probable,” there is hope that Sanders will return to the field. Otherwise, it will be a big loss in a game that will require some stops down the stretch.
