Let’s see, I honestly haven’t been on TikTok in hours. I went from 6,000 to 576,000, so I gained 570,000 followers.

That’s crazy. This is the first time I looked at it and saw it. This morning I was at about 200, so today I’ve gone from about 200,000 people to half a million people. This is the first time I’ve looked.

I’m sure you understand the kind of impulse behind why people do this, but it seems to be a reversal and may be taking center stage now.

I feel like I’m in an episode of Crime Junkie. I usually just listen to it when I’m driving to work, and now it feels like I’m in an episode, so I’m like, “Where’s Ashley Flowers?” Where is she? We have to talk. Yes.

I was just alone for a minute without my phone blowing up for the first time. I just took a deep breath and I’m like, I’ve seen this happen to other people in movies and the fact that it’s happening to me is driving me crazy.

Maybe this sounds like an obvious question, but does it feel different? There are many conversations about the impact of people’s fascination with true crime. Was there a moment when it became more real in a way?

So when I was at Live, I sang Danger! Songs, because there were 45 minutes between the arrival of the detectives and the arrival of the dogs. So I kept saying, “That’s the commercial break,” telling myself, with all my heart, that there was absolutely no chance that this was going to happen. This was a fun conclusion to a crazy story and what a cool way to end the whole thing. The dogs don’t see anything. You leave, the case is closed. I expected that.

Then the dogs smelled something.

Yes, the first dog was sitting there and I was audible in the video, you hear me walking and I start shaking and that’s when it became real to me. As the white dog sat there, I thought, “This has just become so different.”

I bet.

You see things like this on social media and you think, “Oh, this is so crazy. One in a million.” Being one in a million, I can’t even describe it, how out of body… I always feel like I’m about to wake up and it was all just a crazy dream.

A few days ago you made t-shirts.

Well, back when we had just hit 10,000 followers, I think, we made t-shirts that said, “Just keep on giving.” Again, it was a joke. Then other t-shirts that said “I’m just here for the update.” Pretty much what every comment on my videos would say.
