Shark Tank judge Anupam Mittal on the Starbucks CEO’s 1,600 km flight to work: “Whatever happened to the leadership of …?”

CEO of Starbucks Brian Niccol will commute to the company’s Seattle headquarters three times a week. According to the offer letter disclosed in an SEC filing, the newly appointed CEO will fly 1,000 miles from Newport Beach, California to Seattle. Commenting on the news, he said: Judge at Shark Tank Anupam Mittal said: “Whatever happened to being a role model?”
Recently, Starbucks fired its former CEO Laxman Narasimhan and replaced him with CEO of Chipotle Brian Niccol. The firing came amid declining sales at the beverage chain. According to the SEC filing, Niccol will receive a salary of $1.6 million per year and a cash bonus of $3.6 million to $7.2 million, depending on performance.
Mittal used the microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his views.

Here is the contribution of Anupam Mittal

This is not the first time Mittal has spoken about Starbucks online. Commenting on Brian’s appointment earlier this month, he said: “The continued decline in value of Starbucks is inevitable unless they go back to their roots or reinvent their reason for being. Right now they are less of a cafe and more of a dessert shop with criminal amounts of hidden sugar that makes people sick. Probably more toxic than tobacco companies.”
“But good move to bring in Brian,” he then said.
