Shanti-Nigue Goree, 34, was unable to pay for the services she received at Star Nails on July 19. When officers arrived, they spoke with the salon’s owner, Lynda Nguyen. She stated that Goree came to the salon to get her nails done and told her she would pay after the treatment was completed. Then, Nguyen said, Goree started acting strange, so she asked Goree if she could close the account before the treatment was completed. Goree responded by asking if she could pay through PayPal.

However, Nguyen told Goree that they did not accept digital transactions. Goree then gave Nguyen a friend’s phone number to help pay for the service, but the friend did not respond. After that, Goree told Nguyen that she had no way to pay and tried to give her a note explaining her current financial situation. Nguyen said she refused to read Goree’s note and told officers that the service cost $130. Goree was then cited for the incident that same day. Goree was later arrested on August 12 for theft.
