Sewer maintenance work needs to be done in some parts of Lynchburg

Residents in some Lynchburg neighborhoods may experience disruptions during September as Lynchburg Water Resources crews perform maintenance on sewer lines.

Starting Tuesday 3 September, LWR will be working with contractor Duke’s for approximately two weeks to chemically treat approximately 2,740 metres of sewer pipe to combat root growth.

According to LWR, the purpose of the work is to maintain the sewer system and help prevent costly backups and overflows in the sewer system.

The work will be carried out during daytime hours Monday to Friday on or near properties at the following locations:

  • 12th Street
  • Pine Path
  • Bonair Circle
  • Plymouth Square
  • Kenmore drive
  • Reusenser Street
  • Kenwood Square
  • Ridgelawn Place
  • Lee Circle
  • Rivermont Avenue
  • Navajo Circle
  • Riverside cruise
  • Oakwood Place
  • VES Street
  • Old Forest Road
  • West Cadbury Drive

Residents may notice workers accessing the sewer system through manhole covers on or near their property, but LWR says there should be no disturbance to private property. However, they ask that private vehicles and other items be removed from these sewer areas before September 3.

Residents should expect temporary traffic controls in some work areas. Motorists should expect minor delays and use caution when driving through work areas.
