Severe thunderstorms in the northeast produce violent lightning and destructive gusts of wind

NEW YORK – The severe weather that swept across parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes region this week took aim at the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Wednesday.

The FOX Forecast Center said the severe thunderstorms that developed Wednesday were all due to extreme heat and a cold front that moved through the region during the afternoon and evening hours.
