Seedings Index is used as weekly rankings for fall sports

AURORA – Instead of weekly coaches polls for team sports, the Colorado High School Activities Association will release its Seedings Index this fall as weekly polls for field hockey, flag football, soccer, boys soccer, softball and girls volleyball.

The first rankings for softball are now online, while the first rankings for field hockey, flag football, boys soccer and girls volleyball will go online next Tuesday, September 3. The first rankings for football will be released on Monday, September 9.

The CHSAA Seeding Index is one of the primary tools for determining qualifying and postseason rankings for all team sports. Unlike coaches polls, rankings can be updated hourly, ultimately giving teams, coaches, schools and fans a better understanding of where a team stands throughout the season, especially leading up to the postseason.

To qualify for the CHSAA Postseason Seeding Index, teams must play a minimum number of games. Games and minimums are determined by MaxPreps and vary by sport and season. As such, the Seedings Index is not available at the beginning of each season. The rankings are released as teams advance further into their seasons (approximately 3-5 weeks into a given season).

All live data can be found on the CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index website and weekly rankings (including preseason coaches polls) can be found on the Weekly Rankings website.
