The National Hurricane Center is keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Leslie, which was located about 515 miles southwest of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands as of Thursday morning, the NHC said.

According to hurricane center forecasters, Leslie is expected to continue moving westward through Thursday night, followed by a slightly faster west-northwestward movement Friday through Saturday.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of about 40 mph as of Thursday morning and is expected to continue to strengthen, with forecasters expecting Leslie to strengthen into a hurricane “in a few days.”

The NHC is also tracking Hurricane Kirk, which is gaining strength in the Atlantic Ocean.
