Sebastian Stan’s new Donald Trump film ‘The Apprentice’ confirms UK release

Sebastian Stan’s upcoming Donald Trump film “The Apprentice” has been confirmed for a UK release this year.

The film, in which the Marvel actor plays the former US president, traces the younger Trump’s rise to power as a businessman.

Ahead of its premiere at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, it was announced that The Apprentice will be released in UK and Irish cinemas in 2024 – but a specific date has not yet been set.

In addition to Stan, the film stars Jeremy Strong (Succession) as Trump’s infamous mentor Roy Cohn, Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3) as Trump’s first wife Ivana and Martin Donovan (Tenet) as Trump’s father Fred.

“The Apprentice is a foray into the dark side of the American empire,” the synopsis states. “It traces the rise to power of the young Donald Trump through a Faustian pact with the influential right-wing lawyer and political puppet master Roy Cohn.”

The film is described as “an exploration of power and ambition in a world of corruption and deceit” and “a story of mentor and protégé that traces the origins of an American dynasty.”

“With its larger-than-life characters, the film reveals the moral and human costs of a culture shaped by winners and losers,” an earlier synopsis continued.

Holy Spider’s Ali Abbasi directed “The Apprentice” from a screenplay by Gabriel Sherman, who wrote the best-selling book “The Loudest Voice in the Room” about former Fox News president Roger Ailes.

The film is competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or at Cannes, alongside films such as Barry Keoghan’s “Bird,” Selena Gomez’s “Emilia Perez,” and Emma Stone’s “Kinds of Kindness.”

“The Apprentice” will be released in British cinemas in 2024.
