Seattle Seahawks vs Detroit Lions: Predictions and Odds

The “Monday Night Football” matchup between the undefeated Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions promises to be a defining moment in the 2024 NFL season for these two teams.

After making it to the NFC Championship game last year, the Lions are determined to repeat their success. Their recent 20-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals, following a 20-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, is a testament to their determination. Although their offense is gaining more yards per game compared to the 2023 season, they are striving to score at the same level.

The Lions, under the leadership of new coach Mike Macdonald, face a strong opponent: the 3-0 Seattle Seahawks. Seattle’s start to the season was nothing short of impressive: They became the first team since the 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers to start the season 3-0 while allowing fewer than 150 yards in each game. However, they will be missing key players in the game against the Lions as outside linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Boye Mafe, among others, are listed as questionable.

Here are the latest odds and predictions for the Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions game on Monday Night Football in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season.

USA Today’s Tyler Dragon: Lions 21, Seahawks 20

Dragon writes: “First-year head coach Mike Macdonald is an early candidate for NFL Coach of the Year. The Seahawks are the first team since the 1979 Steelers to start 3-0 and allow fewer than 150 yards in each of their first three games in a season, according to NFL Research, but the Lions will be Seattle’s toughest test yet.

Sports News Vinni Lyer: Lions 31, Seahawks 27

Lyer writes: “The Seahawks took care of the Broncos, Patriots and undermanned Dolphins, with two of the games being played at home. “This is a tough road trip on Monday night, even though they recently won in Detroit with Geno Smith.” The Lions found their fast-paced running game again last week to relieve pressure on Jared Goff.

Sports Illustrated: Seattle Seahawks

Staff writes: “The Seahawks may have trouble on the ground against the Lions, who have allowed just 2.76 yards per carry to opposing running backs this year, but Geno Smith should have no trouble getting the ball to his talented receiving corps. No QB has completed more completions (77) than Geno Smith this season. It looks like the Seahawks are in for a loss, but I don’t see a way for the Lions to win this decisively. I’m buying the points for Seattle Monday Night I’ll also bet on Seattle to win outright.

Winners and whiners: Detroit Lions

Michael Briggs writes: “I expect the Lions to show their pride on Monday night and present a struggling Seahawks team with a well-rounded performance at home. “Detroit should be able to run the football with ease against the visitors’ depleted front.” Goff made money in the Hall (26-9 ATS in the Hall) after the Tigers failed in the postseason, which is also Seattle’s case going 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games will be the betting favorites to win and cover on Monday Night Football!”
