Sean McVay loves football, no question about it, but he likes to gently remind him not only how much he enjoys the sport, but also how much he consumes it.

Before Sunday’s game against the Bears in Chicago, McVay was asked about his thoughts on Caleb Williams and his plan to stop him.

“I’ve watched this guy for a long time, whether it was when he first played at Oklahoma or at USC, and he’s a real stud,” McVay said Friday. “With all the accolades he has received based on his work and resume, he ticks all the boxes. You can see that he knows what he sees. He can process, he can play inside the pocket, play with timing and rhythm, pass the ball with precision and anticipation, and then when something goes off plan, it’s a nightmare to defend him because he has the view of the field directed. He can extend plays in the passing game, but then also has the athleticism, strength and instincts of a runner to bring the ball downfield and do things like that. He would be the number one overall pick for a long time. I think it’s deserved and he’s a great competitor. That’s one of the things you look at. I think he’s a great competitor and we have our hands full. He has some really good players around him and of course he is familiar with the good coaches he is surrounded by.”

Even though Williams has individual talent, he has not yet managed to gel with the Bears’ offense. To rewrite that narrative, Bears OC Shane Waldron, a former assistant under McVay, had Williams throw the ball over 50 times in his final game.

The Rams’ DBs will have a lot of work to do with a pass-happy attack, and Keenan Allen is expected to play after missing the last two games.
