EAST RUTHERFORD – It’s time for the Jets (1-1) football game from the Meadowlands as Gang Green hosts the New England Patriots (1-1) tonight at MetLife Stadium.

Aaron Rodgers helped the Jets to their first win of the season on Sunday with a 24-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

There will undoubtedly be a different atmosphere and a wide range of emotions when Rodgers returns to MetLife, his first appearance since tearing his Achilles tendon after just four plays with the Jets last September.

So how will it go for the four-time NFL MVP? Will he build on last week’s win and take the Jets to a 2-1 record? Or can the Patriots pull off an upset on the road thanks to a strong running game on the short week?

Here is our live coverage and analysis of the Jets vs Patriots game in Week 3 from MetLife Stadium:

Jets head coach Robert Saleh’s efforts paid off, as running back Breece Hall scored a point and gave Gang Green a two-point lead almost halfway through the first half.

It is Hall’s third touchdown of the season and his second on the ground.

Aaron Rodgers throws his first touchdown pass as a member of the Jets at MetLife Stadium, a 10-yard touchdown to Allen Lazard, who has already scored his third receiving touchdown of the season.

The drive really got going when Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai body slammed running back Breece Hall, resulting in a 15-yard penalty and putting the ball in New England territory near the halfway line. Rodgers found Lazard, his longtime Packers teammate, just four plays later.

Will McDonald, who had his best performance to date with three sacks against the Titans in Week 2, nearly recorded his fourth sack of the season, but Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett got rid of the ball just in time, preventing tight end Hunter Henry from gaining yards and allowing both teams to take three sacks on their first drives of the game.

On Rodgers’ first play, he made a short pass to Wilson’s right for a six-yard gain, then showed his industriousness by running for five yards and picking up a first down on the next play.

The Patriots won the coin toss and now await possession to begin the second half. QB Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will go on offense first.

How will the Jets’ weakened defense respond to the short week?

Already without Jermaine Johnson due to an Achilles injury and Haason Reddick due to contractual issues, the Jets will now be without another member of their defense as linebacker CJ Mosley is unavailable for tonight’s game due to a toe injury.

Even if the Jets’ offense isn’t particularly productive by any stretch of the imagination, the defense (which ranks 24th in the NFL) could have its hands full for the third time in 11 days.

Prediction for the game NY Jets vs. Patriots

The selection: Jets 27, Patriots 20

Here’s why: The Jets will struggle against the Patriots offense that has dominated the first two weeks. In his home debut this season, QB Aaron Rodgers will lead enough offense while the defense makes the crucial stops when needed to give Gang Green the win and get the organization above .500 for the first time since last October.
